Looking for a working cat?

What’s a working cat?

Blue Mountain Humane Society has healthy cats that are just waiting to work! Working cats are feral or semi-feral cats that are not adoptable as house pets. However, these cats will thrive in suitable indoor/outdoor homes such as barns, warehouses, shops, garages, or vineyard properties.

Caretakers need only provide daily food and water, access to protection from the elements, and long-term care. After a short period of secure confinement, the cats should accept their new surroundings.

In return for your care, working cats will help keep rodents away from grain and food storage areas. You enjoy watching these cats work, and you will also be saving their lives by providing them a much needed home!

There’s no fee.

If you are interested in adopting one or more working cats, please complete our application form.

If no cats are waiting for immediate placement, your name will be added to our list of willing homes, and you will be contacted as soon as a cat is waiting! It may take up to a month to fill your request, as our goal is to always have a waiting list for cats as they arrive, limiting their time at the shelter.
