Here at the Blue Mountain Humane Society, each animal enjoys kind and fair treatment. Each animal is considered as a creature with the right to freedom from pain and fear. Each animal gets the fullest chance possible to find a loving owner and be part of a happy household. 

We could not approach our work that way if it were not for the support of the people in the community; people like you who love animals, and who act responsibly with those in their care. Over 1000 of your neighbors have decided to express their support by becoming members. That reliable source of donations makes much of what we do possible.

What is the Humane Society?

We are a private, non-profit charitable organization incorporated in the State of Washington. Our purpose is to prevent cruelty and foster kindness to all living creatures. This is accomplished in the Southeast Washington region through operation of an animal shelter, education programs, and cruelty and neglect investigations. Funding sources are: shelter fees, proceeds of a Thrift Store, some small municipal contracts for housing animals, and memberships & donations from people like you. THE ANIMALS WE CARE FOR ARE THE ONES NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT. . . It costs a lot to keep a pet, and it costs a lot to operate a good Animal Shelter.
