Dog Jog Community Fundraising Toolkit

Thank you for participating in Dog Jog, an annual community fundraiser for Blue Mountain Humane Society!

Your participation does more than register you for a fun community event. It creates an opportunity to expand the circle of people who care about animals and want to make a difference close to home. This toolkit is designed to make it simple for you to invite others to be part of that impact.

How Community Fundraising Works

When you sign up for Dog Jog as a community fundraiser, you get your own personal fundraising page. Instead of asking one person to make a big donation, you invite friends and family to chip in whatever they can. Small gifts add up quickly, and every dollar goes toward caring for animals in our community.

Who Can You Ask to Support Your Fundraiser?

  • Friends and family

  • Coworkers

  • Neighbors

  • Social media followers

  • Teammates or club members

  • Alumni networks

  • Clients or business contacts

  • Church, book club, or community groups

  • Fellow pet lovers, and more!

Once you have a few people in mind, the next step is simply reaching out. To make that easy, we have provided sample messages you can copy, paste, and personalize.

Subject: I’m participating in Dog Jog — join me and be a hero for local pets

Hello,

I’m excited to be participating in the Dog Jog 5K & Fun Run to support Blue Mountain Humane Society!

This local shelter provides lifesaving care for animals in our community. Each year, they do hundreds of intakes and adoptions, and perform thousands of surgeries, including low-income spay/neuter surgeries and feral cat spay/neuter surgeries, which help reduce pet overpopulation in our community.

I’m fundraising to help make sure they can continue saying “yes” to animals who need medical care, shelter, and a second chance.

If you’d like to support me, even a small donation makes a real difference. Every gift adds up to lifesaving impact.

If donating isn’t possible right now, sharing the link or cheering me on means just as much.

Thank you for supporting me and for caring about animals in our community.

With gratitude,

If email is not your preferred way to connect, social media is another powerful option. A short post, paired with a photo, can reach dozens or even hundreds of people at once.

Mama’s Last Litter: Jasmine, Belle, Arthur, Merlin, Charlie Boba, and Mom

I am fundraising for Blue Mountain Humane Society because programs like Mama’s Last Litter create real solutions for pets and the people who care about them. Jasmine, Belle, Arthur, Merlin, and Charlie Boba were surrendered through this program so they could find loving homes. As part of the process, their mom was spayed so she won’t have to have another litter. All five puppies quickly found homes, and their mom was able to return home and enjoy the rest of her life puppy-free. Donations from our community make programs like this possible and help prevent pet overpopulation while supporting responsible pet owners.

Bunny

I am fundraising for Blue Mountain Humane Society because animals like Bunny deserve a second chance. When Bunny arrived at the shelter, she was barely alive. Her body temperature was so low it would not register, and she could not walk. As a three-legged dog, she already faced challenges, but the veterinary team immediately stepped in to warm her, run diagnostic tests, and provide lifesaving care. After being spayed, Bunny went to a foster home to recover. Her foster family fell in love with her gentle personality and decided to adopt her. Donations from caring community members made Bunny’s recovery and new life possible.

Steve

I am fundraising for Blue Mountain Humane Society because every animal deserves care and a chance to find a home, no matter their age. Steve, a senior dog with a sweet personality, arrived as a stray in October 2025 with medical problems that required immediate treatment. The veterinary team provided the care he needed to recover, and after several months he found his forever home in early March. Stories like Steve’s show how important community support is. Donations help ensure that senior animals and pets with medical needs still get the treatment and time they need to find loving homes.

Theodore

I am fundraising for Blue Mountain Humane Society because the shelter provides critical medical care that helps animals get a real chance at life. Theodore is a wrinkly faced puppy who arrived needing surgery to correct entropion, a condition where the eyelids roll inward and irritate the eyes. The veterinary team was able to perform the surgery and send him to a foster home to recover. His foster family quickly realized he belonged with them and made his adoption official. Donations from our community make surgeries like Theodore’s possible and help animals heal, grow, and find homes.

Alani

I am fundraising for Blue Mountain Humane Society because the shelter not only provides medical care but also helps animals overcome barriers to adoption. Alani came to the shelter as a sweet cat who tested positive for FIV and needed surgery to repair an eyelid condition called entropion. The veterinary team provided the care she needed, and she went on to find a loving home. The shelter also works to educate the community about FIV so that cats who test positive are not overlooked and can still live full lives. Donations from supporters make that care and education possible.
